How do you even begin to describe a day in Venice? It is a place like no other. A sinking, historic city, built in the water, with iconic canals for sidewalks. Boats have replaced cars as the main mode of transportation. Time seems to stand still. We love it and have visited several times.
When we went to Venice, we took water taxis and gondolas to get around. In a city maze made of canals and bridges, it is an efficient way to get from place to place.
There are many iconic places in Venice – St. Mark’s Square, The Bridge of Sighs, Gondola stations, multiple cathedrals, and museums. But, for Houston’s version of Venice, he wanted to showcase the peaceful, quiet side. The place where the people live their lives, away from the crowds and the hustle. A quiet, barely noticeable side canal, where the unique beauty of the city still shines.
A highlight of the Downs & Towns NFT journey has been to have one of Houston’s NFTs exhibited in a gallery in Venice. This is a bigger honor than we could have ever dreamed; but, then again, Venice is a city of dreams.
And in the world of NFT art, anything is possible.
