Description
This GIF is a short excerpt of my video FLOU #02, minted on Objkt.com (https://objkt.com/asset/KT1GA1pMAGEMM12QAeVw73PVToHqP5b5nhGp/2). The 'FLOU’ series uses multiple AI tools to interpret and animate my personal archive of family potos and children’s drawings. The process involves several steps and each time the image gets more and more far from the originals’, getting to an almost completely abstract result. The title is taken from an expression in French, “c’est flou”, often spoken when someone can’t remember something well. It can be translated as unclear, vague, fuzzy, hazy, undefined or foggy. I have began working over a decade ago with homemade films and family albums. I am interested in the relationship between memory, image representation of memory, and family album. And the ways all these intertwine in a fictional construction that is in a continuous movement. It’s a porous process, affected also by the evolution in the technology to capture our precious moments : from long exposure photo portraits, passing by homemade films and videos, then mobile phones (selfies, social media) and now AI. The FLOU series was first made for my solo show FRAGMENTS at the TSI/Hharland Snodgrass Gallery (NY).
